The Royal Caribbean Group has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Lead Deployment Environmental & Decarbonization Analyst reporting to the Director of Corporate Deploymentm PMO & Operations.
This position works on-site in Miami, Florida
Position Summary:
The Corporate Deployment team is part of the Finance organization of the Royal Caribbean Group. The position will influence the strategic direction and financial performance of the company and will look for synergies and opportunities for each brand to consider. This position would work closely with all brands and Global Marine Operations to support the implementation of Royal Caribbean Group’s Destination Net Zero strategy, a key pillar of the company’s sustainability initiatives.
This position will identify ways to reduce energy consumption while optimizing fleet profitability and performance. Will collaborate with each brand to ensure all itineraries meet or exceed current and future environmental regulations in the detailed planning. A key aspect of this role will be in the development and assessment of viable itineraries for ships challenged by Carbon Intensity Index and other regulatory considerations.
There will be exposure to senior management with the opportunity to work closely with branded Deployment teams, Global Marine Operations, Energy Management, Safety & Environment, Government Relations, Corporate Strategy, Shore Ex, Destination Development, Revenue Management and other departments within the Company.
Assignments within Deployment and Itinerary Planning will typically involve quantitative and qualitative analysis of a competitive situation, development of recommendations, and written and/or oral presentation of those recommendations. Assignments will vary and may include one or more of the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with key departments throughout the organization to facilitate the deployment process to increase their profit potential and guest satisfaction balancing all constraints.
- Keep up to date with the latest regulatory compliance landscape regarding sustainability and climate-related requirements.
- Collaborate in regular decarbonization strategy development with port operations, itinerary planning, technical & marine operations.
- The role further entails leveraging data science and analytics and digitalization initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions to achieve both Corporate and Regulatory decarbonization targets.
- Work with cross-functional teams and leadership to set ambitious and measurable energy efficiency targets (KPIs) to reduce RCG’s operational expense and carbon footprint.
- Support medium to long term financial estimate of decarbonization impact based on CII compliance, Biofuel requirements, Carbon tax exposure, Fleet Divestment options and corporate target commitments.
- Aware and monitors industry competitor actions and targets in response to changes in environmental and regulatory actions.
- Continuous improvement of the process and tools needed to execute deployment planning.
- Liaise with ports, governments, and other stakeholders in destinations around the world to guide continual improvement in the quality of our itineraries.
- Work with deployment ops team to coordinate itinerary changes and seek approval of new itineraries from various internal departments.
- Facilitate the development of Northern Europe itineraries to ensure optimal marketability while meeting various local and regional regulations.
- Primary point of contact within team regarding dry dock scheduling, engaging with Marine, Hotel, Revenue Management on proposals and timing.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- MBA or master’s degree preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, Environmental Science or Sustainability).
- Understanding of cruise line operations is preferred either in technical-engineering, environment, nautical operations, energy management, new builds, or other areas.
- Detailed knowledge of vessel operations, energy management and Shipping Decarbonization is preferred.
- Knowledge of environmental frameworks and regulatory affairs within the Maritime industry.
- Experience in cruise line itinerary planning preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze compliance of planned ship itineraries with environmental regulations.

- Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and problem identification.
- Ability to structure logically quantitative analyses of complex issues.
- Advanced MS Excel skills are essential, with an emphasis on the ability to access and manipulate data from a variety of sources.

- Willingness to accept immediate project responsibility.
- Ability to effectively use oral and written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and use proper judgment.
