Position: Senior Regional Resiliency Planner

Description
A Senior Regional Resiliency Planner is needed by the Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC), a regional governmental entity serving seven counties and 25 municipalities. NEFRC employees work to deliver excellent customer service to local governments and other clients. This is a dynamic (multi-disciplinary) opportunity, focused on serving the Resilience Program of the NEFRC, which includes the following types of work and projects:
• Vulnerability Assessments and Adaptation Plans for local governments
• Regional coordination and analysis of local government resiliency work
• Regional Resiliency Action Plan development
• Resilient First Coast Collaborative Committee coordination
• Partnership on projects to address resiliency at multiple scales
This position reports to the Regional Resiliency Manager and may assist other NEFRC programs as needed, including Community Planning, Emergency Management, and Economic Development. This is a senior level position requiring leadership both internally and externally in the field of resilience as a whole, by continually building knowledge, skills, and reputation among colleagues.
Requirements
The successful candidate is professional, highly organized, and can work independently on a variety of projects and tasks. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for specific project deadlines or meetings as job duties demand. Regular travel within the seven-county Region for meetings is expected.
Minimum qualifications include:
• Communication Proficiency, including effective verbal and excellent written communication; strong listening and facilitation.
• Strong organizational skills and capacity for working on multiple projects simultaneously on independent and team-based work; ability to initiate own tasks and keep all deliverables on schedule, providing status updates at regular intervals.
• Technical Capacity, including competency in basic computer applications (MS Office, Adobe Suite).
Preferred qualifications include:
• Knowledge of climate change impacts, vulnerability assessment methodologies, mitigation actions, and adaptations for both natural and built environments.
• Skills in Geographic Information Systems, project management, and data collection and synthesis.
• Ability to learn new concepts quickly and incorporate them appropriately into corresponding work, take initiative and demonstrate appropriate judgment; and produce high quality work that needs little to no revision.
A writing sample must be submitted along with a resume.
Education
Bachelor’s degree plus 2-4 years of experience in Resiliency, Sustainability, Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering or related field; a Master’s degree or a combination of education, training, and experience that provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities.
