POSITION SUMMARY
The Environmental and Sustainability Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of the company's environmental & sustainability programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.). In addition, this position will also perform sustainability recordkeeping and implement projects in order to reduce energy use and waste generation, as well as increase recycling/reuse and cost savings.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Apply subject matter expertise and communication skills to independently and objectively assist facilities in identifying and meeting environmental compliance requirements.
- Lead the sites ISO 14001:2015 audits and activities as defined within the ISO14001:2015 standard to ensure successful certification.
- Ensure tools/methods to assess facility compliance status are implemented, tracked, and adjusted as necessary.
- Perform reporting of environmental requirements such as but not limited to; Tier II Reports, Form R Reports, TRI Reports, Air Permits, Stormwater / Discharge Monitoring Reports (eDMR), etc.
- Maintain waste profiles, manifests, and tracking of generated wastes.
- Collect various samples of potentially hazardous materials for lab analysis.
- Perform routine site inspections and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with site regulatory requirements, permits, & plans.
- Provide support in response to environmental incidents, including root cause analyses, and guidance on remediation and clean-up efforts.
- Communicate with local, state, and federal agencies regarding environmental related inquiries.
- Develop and conduct employee training on a variety of environmental & sustainability topics.
- Develop talent and build capability through coaching and mentoring our EHS team.
- Support EHS programs and drive compliance with operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or Industrial Hygiene.
Experience: Experience or coursework in occupational health, safety, environmental, or related technical field. Experience working with regulatory agency personnel.
Computer Skills: Skilled with MS Office suite.
Certificates & Licenses: Pursuing environmental certification(s) such as EHS/CSP certifications. ISO Lead Auditor.
Other Requirements: Experience with Operational Excellence methodologies, detail-oriented and a high level of problem-solving skills.
